Specialty eye care refers to optometric services designed to assess, diagnose, and manage eye conditions that go beyond routine vision testing. It requires advanced diagnostic tools and clinical expertise to evaluate how disease, injury, or underlying health conditions affect the eyes. Specialty eye care services offered in our Midtown Toronto clinic emphasize more in-depth testing, closer monitoring, and coordinated care when vision or eye health concerns are complex, progressive, or time-sensitive.
Certain symptoms and changes in vision can signal the need for specialty eye care rather than a standard checkup. These concerns often point to underlying medical issues that require detailed assessment and closer monitoring.
When these signs appear, timely specialty care helps clarify the cause and determine appropriate next steps for protecting your vision.
Medical monitoring and treatment plans focused on protecting optic nerve health and managing intraocular pressure over time.
Clinical evaluation of tear quality and gland function, with targeted therapies to address chronic irritation and inflammation.
St. Clair Eye Clinic is a UHN emergency referral clinic for family practice. We provide prompt assessment and treatment of sudden vision changes, eye injuries, infections, or acute pain.
Assessment and ongoing care for conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and other ocular pathologies.
We offer pre-surgical evaluations to determine candidacy and coordinate care with surgical providers.
Advanced fittings for patients with complex prescriptions, irregular corneas, or specialty lens requirements.
Specialty eye care matters because many eye conditions develop quietly, progress over time, or present suddenly with serious consequences if not assessed correctly.
Our advanced care focuses on detecting subtle structural and functional changes within the eye, often before symptoms feel urgent. For patients, it means clearer answers, timely treatment, and care that accounts for how eye health connects to overall health.
Specialty eye care depends on both clinical judgment and the tools used to reach it. At St. Clair Eye Clinic, advanced diagnostic technology supports detailed evaluation of eye structures, pressure changes, nerve health, and disease progression. These tools allow for earlier detection, clearer baselines, and more precise monitoring over time, essential when managing complex or progressive conditions.
Our clinic has been led by Dr. Neel Vyas since 2008 and is recognized across Toronto for our focus on medical optometry and complex eye health care, including glaucoma management.
With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Vyas brings a depth of clinical insight shaped by work in optometry clinics, ophthalmology settings, and a private surgical clinic.
Specialty eye care visits to our Midtown Toronto Clinic are designed to allow for deeper clinical assessment and more targeted testing. While each visit is customized, patients can generally expect the following:
We provide this care in a welcoming, patient-focused setting and prioritize your comfort and safety during every visit.
Posted on Barbara Turner I couldn't be more enthusiastic about Dr. Korkis -- in fact, i think she may have saved the vision in my right eye. I went for a routine eye exam, she diagnosed a possible retinal tear, and through her contacts I was seen by a retinologist only a few hours later. He found a large tear and lasered it on the spot. (He failed to offer any follow-up advice -- although he did schedule another appointment -- but when I called Dr Korkis after the weekend, she immediately told me what I needed to know. In addition to her manifest diagnostic skills, she is friendly, personable, and very efficient. I am so glad to have found her.Posted on Nadia Bove I have been coming with my family since the clinic opened. Dr Vyas has always been excellent in his services and advice. Always taking the time to explain. I am so happy to have this service in our community. Great front staff especially Maria!Posted on Night Rider We have been using this clinic for many years. The place gives you immediate confidence when you enter and know that you have arrived in a professional environment. Dr. Neel Vyas heads this place. He treated me with utmost care and professionalism. He has added new test equipment to do a diagnosis of many kinds. I will continue to visit him because I know the diagnosis will be accurate. The reception staff is quite friendly too. The place is clean, and they display all designer eye glasses for one to choose. Price is very reasonable. I compared it, and I know this clinic is not overcharging me. One more thing: They display artful paintings and photographs for you to enjoy while waiting your turn.Posted on Ariela Gutfrajnd I recently experienced a very painful and scary corneal ulcer that appeared out of nowhere. I had never been to this clinic before but I called on a Saturday as an emergency when my symptoms first started. It ended up being an almost 2-month ordeal that I had to deal with and the care I received here was incredible! Both Dr. Korkis and Dr. Vyas were friendly and caring and were diligent about following up with me to ensure I was healing properly. The front desk staff were also very friendly and helpful! I highly recommend this place for eye care!Posted on JB Fiske I needed emergency eye care, and Dr. Korkis was extremely efficient and reassuring during the process.
