Vision impairments in children might go unnoticed because kids lack a frame of reference for what is normal. They might not complain about their vision at all, even if they are having difficulties seeing.
Regular, comprehensive eye exams can help evaluate your child’s visual acuity and overall ocular health. Book an appointment to ensure your child sees well, long into the future.
Please note we do not provide exams for children under the age of 5.
Routine exams help identify concerns early, often before a child realizes anything is wrong or symptoms begin to affect learning or daily activities. You should consider booking a child’s eye exam at our Toronto clinic:
Regular eye exams support healthy development and help ensure vision keeps pace with your child’s growth.
A kid’s eye exam at St. Clair Eye Clinic is structured to feel approachable while still covering every aspect of visual development. During the exam, you can expect:
The focus is on accuracy, comfort, and giving families practical insight into their child’s visual development.
Eye exams for kids at our Midtown Toronto clinic focus on how a child’s eyes are developing, how well they work together, and how vision supports learning, reading, and coordination, not just whether they can see the eye chart.
We use age-appropriate testing methods that feel more like guided activities than clinical procedures, which allows us to gather accurate results without unnecessary stress. Parents are kept informed at every step, with clear explanations of findings, next steps, and what to watch for as vision continues to change.

Posted on Barbara Turner I couldn't be more enthusiastic about Dr. Korkis -- in fact, i think she may have saved the vision in my right eye. I went for a routine eye exam, she diagnosed a possible retinal tear, and through her contacts I was seen by a retinologist only a few hours later. He found a large tear and lasered it on the spot. (He failed to offer any follow-up advice -- although he did schedule another appointment -- but when I called Dr Korkis after the weekend, she immediately told me what I needed to know. In addition to her manifest diagnostic skills, she is friendly, personable, and very efficient. I am so glad to have found her.Posted on Nadia Bove I have been coming with my family since the clinic opened. Dr Vyas has always been excellent in his services and advice. Always taking the time to explain. I am so happy to have this service in our community. Great front staff especially Maria!Posted on Night Rider We have been using this clinic for many years. The place gives you immediate confidence when you enter and know that you have arrived in a professional environment. Dr. Neel Vyas heads this place. He treated me with utmost care and professionalism. He has added new test equipment to do a diagnosis of many kinds. I will continue to visit him because I know the diagnosis will be accurate. The reception staff is quite friendly too. The place is clean, and they display all designer eye glasses for one to choose. Price is very reasonable. I compared it, and I know this clinic is not overcharging me. One more thing: They display artful paintings and photographs for you to enjoy while waiting your turn.Posted on Ariela Gutfrajnd I recently experienced a very painful and scary corneal ulcer that appeared out of nowhere. I had never been to this clinic before but I called on a Saturday as an emergency when my symptoms first started. It ended up being an almost 2-month ordeal that I had to deal with and the care I received here was incredible! Both Dr. Korkis and Dr. Vyas were friendly and caring and were diligent about following up with me to ensure I was healing properly. The front desk staff were also very friendly and helpful! I highly recommend this place for eye care!Posted on JB Fiske I needed emergency eye care, and Dr. Korkis was extremely efficient and reassuring during the process. Access starts with a comprehensive eye exam at St. Clair Eye Clinic that identifies your child’s specific needs. From there, we guide families on corrective eyewear, vision support strategies, or referrals if specialized care is needed. Recommendations are always based on age, development, and daily demands like school or screen use.
Common concerns include nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, eye-teaming issues, and focusing difficulties. These problems do not always cause obvious complaints, which is why regular exams matter.
Vision screenings check for basic visual clarity and may miss underlying issues. A comprehensive eye exam evaluates eye health, coordination, focusing ability, and visual development in detail.
Vision supports learning, reading, coordination, and overall development. Regular exams help identify issues early, when intervention and eye disease management can be most effective.
Yes, most children can return the same day. If dilation is used, mild light sensitivity or temporary blur may occur, but it usually resolves within a few hours.
Dilation is sometimes recommended to get a clearer view of eye health and focusing ability. It is safe for children and is only used when clinically helpful.
Exams are recommended every year or two, at key developmental stages, and regularly throughout childhood. Your optometrist will advise on frequency based on age and findings.
Expect a welcoming, child-friendly visit that includes vision testing, eye coordination assessment, eye health evaluation, and a clear discussion of results and next steps.
